Metaltech Retention

A gravure printing ink developed for coated paper and board printing to achieve excellent reflectance and brilliance for metallic performance and finishes comparable to metalised paper. Initially developed for gravure printed beer labels the product can be modified for flexographic systems.

A high gloss, high brilliance silver or modified gold for high-speed gravure surface print. Yields spectacular reflectance that cannot be duplicated by any other printing processes.

Stability

Excellent printability and wetting. This product is stabilised against agglomeration and significant increase in viscosity. A 5 to 10% increase in viscosity is normal over a 180 day period.

Viscosity

Supply viscosity 32 to 36 seconds Zahn #2 @ 25ºC
Print viscosity 18 to 26 seconds Zahn #2 @ 25ºC.

Reducer

Ethyl Acetate/Normal Propyl Acetate blend 2:1 ratio can be utilised depending on print speeds.

Add Ethyl Acetate for faster print speeds. Add Normal Propyl Acetate to retard drying speeds.

General

Can be supplied as a silver with additions of colour concentrates to change to gold or bronze shades (2 pack) or as a specifically matched colour (1 pack). Metallic colours can also be manufactured.

These inks have been formulated in accordance with the recommendation of the British Coatings Federation.

Waste disposal

Care should be exercised in the disposal of printing ink waste. This should be carried out in accordance with good industrial practice observing all the appropriate regulations including the relevant guideline notes to the Environment Conservation Act and Regulations (73/1989).
